Welcome to Wax Journal, a mobile application ("App") developed by Elder Software ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information. By using the App, you consent to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Information We Collect and How We Use It

• Subscription Information: Your email address is collected when you purchase a subscription and is used to manage payments and confirm your subscription status.
• Cloud Sync Data: In paid/full-version plans that include cloud sync, your journal entries (including surf spots, weather conditions, and session notes) are stored in the cloud to enable access across your devices.
• AI Feature Data: Content you submit to AI-powered features is processed to generate AI-assisted outputs (such as summaries and insights).
• Usage Analytics Data: We collect product usage analytics (such as feature usage and interaction events) to understand how the App is used and improve performance and reliability.
• Locally Stored Data: Information stored only on your device is used solely to provide journaling functionality and is not accessed by us. We do not collect additional personal information beyond what is necessary for these features.

Third-Party Service Providers

We share your information with the following third parties to provide the App's functionality:

• RevenueCat: Processes your email address and payment details for subscription management via Google Play Billing and Apple In-App Purchases.
• Supabase: Stores your journal entries for paid/full-version plans that include cloud sync, including AI-generated summaries saved to your account.
• Google Gemini (via Google AI services): Processes data you submit to AI-powered features to generate AI-assisted outputs.
• PostHog: Processes product usage analytics events to help us monitor and improve the App. We do not sell, trade, or transfer your information to unrelated third parties for advertising purposes.

Data Security

We have implemented reasonable technical, administrative, and physical measures to protect your information. Subscription payments are processed securely through Google Play Billing and Apple In-App Purchases via RevenueCat, and cloud sync data is secured by Supabase's infrastructure. However, no system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. If you have concerns, please contact us below.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your subscription and cloud sync data for up to one year after your subscription ends or you stop using the App, unless you request earlier deletion. AI-generated summaries are stored with your cloud data in Supabase. If you delete your account, all associated cloud data will be permanently deleted. Locally stored data remains on your device unless you manually delete it or uninstall the App.

Cloud sync availability depends on your plan. To delete your account and associated cloud data, please contact us as outlined below. Availability of AI-powered features may also depend on your plan and network access.

AI Features Notice

AI-assisted outputs are generated automatically and may be incomplete or inaccurate. You are responsible for reviewing AI-generated content before relying on it. Avoid submitting sensitive personal information to AI features unless necessary.

Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of material changes by posting the revised policy on our website or through the App.
